A peaceful family outing takes an unexpected turn when a teenage daughter innocently reveals the romantic WhatsApp messages she found on her father’s phone. What begins as a simple question…

Family Dinner Turned Into a Shocking Marriage Confession: A Daughter Exposed Her Father’s Secret

She made me laugh.

This young girl.

Not more than fifteen years old.

Who was with her family at the eatery, this was a while ago.

Across from my table where I was waiting for my client.

They were having family time.

She turned to her father.

And asked him in front of her mother.

"Daddy, do I have a second mommy?"

Her father looked at her mother before he said.

"No, your mother is your one and only mother."

Her mother turned to her almost annoyed.

"Why do you keep asking annoying questions? Is it because you are the only child? You think you are still a child."

The girl dropped her plastic spoon and said.

"Mommy, you don't even know why I am asking you are attacking me. At the end of this family date, you will be the one to praise me."

"How?"

She ignored her mother and turned to her father.

As they continued eating.

While other diners and staff chatter in the background.

I was going through my phone while eavesdropping.

"Daddy, do you know why I am asking?"

"No, why did you ask?"

"Because I borrowed your phone to do my class assignment the other day, your WhatsApp message popped up. I saw one woman telling you 'I love you too. What do you want to eat but you will meet me at that place we used to meet before your office.' I mistakenly opened the WhatsApp message I saw where you told the person that you love her so much, that you can even die for her."

I looked at the man and his wife.

The man was so calm and shocked.

His wife couldn't believe what their daughter was saying.

I could see the surprise on her face.

She turned to her husband.

"What's our daughter talking about?"

Their daughter continued.

"Wait. Mommy, wait. Hear me o. I never finish my sermon. So out of curiosity to be sure of what I read. My mind was telling me to check mommy's phone maybe it is mommy that daddy was chatting with even though that afternoon both of you were in the house. So, mommy, I jeje went to your room and checked your phone to see if it was you and daddy were chatting with each other. I checked your WhatsApp lo and behold, the last time you and daddy spoke on WhatsApp was four days ago and the last message was the one you sent to him, that he should buy fufu for the house when he is coming back from work that you have finished cooking the egusi soup."

Her mother turned to her father.

"Is that true? Really? Jesus Christ!"

"Mommy, wait o never scream yet o gist never finish."

Her father screamed at her.

The kind that almost got everyone's attention.

"Will you shut up your mouth you devil that called herself my daughter?"

"If you touch my daughter you will regret the day you asked my hand in marriage."

She turned to their daughter.

"What's the name he saved the person's number with?"

"Daddy saved the person's number with 'Angel' I don't know if it's her real name or not o. Me I am saying the one I know."

"Darling, please, tell me more about this girl. What else did you see on their chat?"

"Mommy, now you wan hear the gist abi? But when I wanted to start this conversation you were insulting me. Abeg, you people should settle your marriage issue, please, don't involve me I am still a baby girl. I have done my part to tell you what daddy is doing behind your back. Mommy, can you not quarrel with daddy here, when we get home you people can now fight. In fact, there are long sticks the laborers kept under the staircase at home, they are two, you people can use it to settle quarrel..."
